People-watching is my favorite pastime. How people present themselves to the world through their style and body language is infinitely interesting. And the history written on a face!
For over 40 years, I’ve been making dolls, marionettes and figurative sculptures based on my observations of humans and animals. I work in various mediums and forms: ceramic hand-built sculpture; mixed-media assemblage with heads, hands and feet I’ve sculpted from sundry materials; and whimsical sculptures made from chicken-wire and papier mache.
I like to tell a story with my pieces and try to express truth through humor. I want to make beauty and meaning from the randomness of life and hope my figures will spark recognition and a dialog with the viewer.
